This is a journal about Jesus. Over the years, I have tried to learn to devote my life to this divine person, the only Son of God, God who became flesh.
Our family, and family of believers take the message of Jesus to the streets most weeks, as he commanded us to. We look to engage with others to help them to take Jesus seriously – all that he said of himself, and all that he promised. We pray with them, we heal them, we love them but most of all we look to make others disciples of his. We try to remain true to his teaching (though we often fail) by telling people the full Gospel of Jesus Christ. As a consequence, we see lives totally transformed. People pass from death to life, literally.
That Gospel tells us that this world lives in darkness, rebellious against God and that each of us pursues our own desires. We have become separated from the very God who made us, and it has led us into chaos and darkness. However, we were created to be the bride of Christ, and all creation is made for the purpose of Jesus Christ. He loves us as nobody else possibly can.
He offered himself as the perfect sacrifice that God needs, to turn away the punishment for our rebellion and satisfy God’s demand for justice. Nobody else is able to do it, except Jesus. Because of this then, we can become reconciled with God again, in spite of our tendency to commit wrong. Instead of being God’s enemies – and solely because of this divine person Jesus, we can become his family. God has adopted us because of his Son.
For a brief time, Jesus walked the earth, and he showed us how we should live. He loved all people, even the religious elite who despised, and eventually killed him; thousands flocked to him for healing, for teaching and simply to receive his Grace and to be in his presence. Before he left, he gave us several commands – to love, to repent and believe, to be baptised, to give, to pray, to share communion (to remember him by) and perhaps most importantly, to make disciples. That is, to tell others what we know about this Jesus. It is not an option, but a command. In fact, Jesus said that if we love him we would obey him, and this is top of the list!
So, to nobrokenreed. Why this? Because we took that command seriously we have met many people who decided that they wanted to be his disciple; also others who weren’t sure, but were interested enough to know more about this incredible person. Finally, for anyone who stumbles across this site, we wanted to offer simple teaching about Jesus; not about church, or religion, but of the one who has already saved them if they would just accept it.
We hope that it reaches many people, and that many may come to learn and commit to this Jesus whom we love. We won’t put our name to it, because it is not about us. Feel free to subscribe, or just come back from time to time. Please though, take Jesus seriously. He is the only one who will change your life forever, and one day he is coming back for all those who love him.
Our hope is that this is something beautiful for him, this Jesus of Nazareth. Simple carpenter, Son of God.
